Sailfish Boats: What is a Variable Degree Stepped VDS Hull Design?

Published

Ryan Bradley, Used Boat Manager, goes over what Variable Degree Stepped Hull design is and how it provides a smooth & stable ride!

The Sailfish Variable Degree Stepped hull is a unique design that features three distinct running surfaces. The first 24° hull cuts through the water – this is the most aggressive angle used in the fishing boat segment. The second 23° hull provides life and allows air under the hull, producing a softer ride with less friction for better performance and fuel economy. This lift allows you to reach the same speed without requiring as much horsepower as other boat brands. The final 22° hull provides the stability needed for slow trolling or stopped positions.
